As work trucks are becoming more civilized, the performance demands are ever increasing with more and more challenges for designers.

Today when it comes to finding solutions for the marketplace, a previous investment in the future can make all the difference.

A leader in industry change for power take-offs, Muncie Power Products has invested in its future allowing the company to once again raise the bar with its new product for Ford—the FR6Q Series power take-off (PTO)—designed to reduce the noise level of the auxiliary power system as desired by many operators today.

According to Director of Product Development Larry Wesley, the company has invested heavily over the years in educating itself about noise and its effect on PTOs, in instrumentation with the ability to analyze engine torsionals that capture variations in torsionally active drivetrains, and in resources including its people with gear design and technology skill sets.

“That’s what has really allowed us to evolve today, where we are able to benefit from all of this previous investment and create a solution for the marketplace,” Larry explained.

The new PTO serves as a solution within the marketplace, offering a PTO option featuring the latest in noise reduction technology while meeting the original needs met by its predecessor—the FR66 Series.

“The FR6Q Series contains a rattle abatement technology that achieves the highest level of audible noise reduction,” said Larry.

As a result, all of the product lines and options currently applicable with the FR66 Series are compatible with the FR6Q Series.

Beyond the noise reduction technology, the new product for Ford offers key features for applications within the tow and recovery, refuse, dump, utility, and snow and ice markets.

Built for Class 3–5 super duty and Class 6–7 medium duty applications requiring low to mid-flow rates and pressure requirements, the FR6Q Series has a one-piece installation, preconfigured wiring harness and is solenoid activated.

For customers, the creation of the FR6Q Series means the ability to continue to rely on Muncie Power as their PTO provider of choice, now with a noise reduction solution featuring the latest in technology.

And as Larry notes, that with the FR6Q Series customers can expect the same benefits they have grown accustomed to when choosing Muncie Power as their PTO provider. These include Muncie Power’s long tradition of high-quality products, live phone support, same day/next day shipping, an industry-setting training benchmark and an enticing and easy-to-use website.

“It’s taken some time to get there but we feel we have something that the market will be excited about,” said Larry. “Engineering, manufacturing, and sales efforts, it’s been a whole team effort.”
