Enhance Road Safety and Efficiency with the Omni-System® Electronic Spreader Package
Designed specifically for state agencies, counties, and contractors, the new Omni-System® Electronic Spreader Package (ESP) is a comprehensive solution to keep roadways safe while optimizing salt usage and staying within budget.
Revolutionary Upgrades for Superior Performance
The Omni-System ESP has an upgraded spreader controller featuring a newly tooled enclosure housing, enhanced rotary encoders for precise operator control, and adjustable backlighting for improved visibility. These advancements ensure users experience superior control and reliability for their winter operations.
From the controller, the operator can control the auger, spinner, and pre-wet—and use the blast setting to increase coverage of a particular area.
Advanced Pre-Wet Control for Optimal Efficiency
With the Omni-System ESP, there is an option to add pre-wet control. Whether you’re using an electric pre-wet pump or a hydraulic pre-wet motor/pump setup, the new controller offers a range of turnkey options to seamlessly integrate pre-wet functionality into your work truck.
Pre-wetting typically includes adding a brine solution to the salt before it is discharged onto the road surface.
Using pre-wet control has several advantages. Most importantly, adding moisture to the granular salt helps chemically activate the deicing solution to melt snow and ice faster and generally doesn’t require as much granular salt output as the deicing application becomes more efficient.
Additionally, adding brine to the salt helps reduce salt bounce on the road surface as the deicing solution is heavier and is more likely to stick to the road surface when applied.
Comprehensive System Components
The Omni-System ESP package includes everything needed for a streamlined installation and operation: an electric controller, harnessing, valve manifold, a weather-resistant enclosure, and optional pre-wet pump configurations.
The system allows for both manual and automatic controlled operation. Auto mode, commonly known as groundspeed control, allows the controller to read the truck’s MPH and automatically adjust the salt output proportionally to the road speed, ensuring consistent and effective application and allowing the operator to maintain their attention on the roadway.
Versatile Applications for Any Work Truck
Whether you’re outfitting a new vehicle or retrofitting an existing one, the Omni-System ESP is designed to accommodate a wide range of work truck applications.
The spreader manifold can be configured to work with either gear pumps (Omni-System ESP 3016) or variable displacement piston pumps (Omni-System ESP 3017), providing flexibility to meet different operational needs.
For the open center configurations, the Omni-System ESP 3016 can be paired with sectional valves equipped with a high-pressure carry-over (HPCO). The HPCO option allows the spreader manifold to receive full pump flow when the sectional valve is not in use, however, spreading will be interrupted whenever a sectional valve is actuated. Alternately, a flow divider can utilized to split pump flow between the sectional valve and spreader manifold.
The benefit of the flow divider is it allows the spreader to continue to operate when the sectional valve is actuated. However, it does reduce the amount of flow to both parts of the circuit, which can impact both cylinder speeds and spreader motor speeds.
Another open center configuration includes a tandem pump setup to power the system. This approach provides a dedicated pump section for the sectional valve and a dedicated section for the spreader manifold ensuring adequate flow or speeds for all operations.
For the closed center configuration (Omni-System ESP 3017), the spreader manifold can be plumbed in parallel to the closed center sectional valve. Properly sizing the variable displacement pump is key to ensure full circuit saturation and no interruption to the cylinder and spreader functionality.
The Omni-System ESP 3020 is an available alternate spreader package configuration, intended for smaller Class 5 setups. In addition to the spreader functionality, this kit adds a 6 GPM hoist valve to the manifold to allow the system to support hoist and spreader operation. This setup consolidates all valves into a single enclosure, reduces plumbing, and makes upfitting more efficient.
